It seems like everyone is talking about new years resolutions. Some people call them resolutions while others call them goals for the new year. What ever the case may be don’t waste one more day…set your goals! I talk to customers everyday and everyday I hear the same thing…”I don’t have enough time to ________(fill in the blank)”. Like I said in my previous blog I’m a new mom and I completely understand the not having enough time issue but here’s a thought…make time. If it’s important to you and more importantly to the success of your dealership then make the time. Goals will not be accomplished on their own. Here is what I think about when I am setting my goals:

1) I look at my previous years accomplishments and failures and put those failures at the top of the list for this year. I don’t give up on them..like they say there’s always next year.

2) I write down goals that are reasonable and attainable.

3) I set a timeline; think of the snowball effect, if any of you listen to Dave Ramsey you know what I’m talking about…set out to accomplish the smaller goals first

4) I write them down and put them where I can see them every day; fridge, bathroom mirror, wallet, next to the computer; wherever just make sure they are visible…you know the saying…out of sight out of mind.

5) I verbally talk about them with my family and friends so they know what I am trying to accomplish.

6) Finally I make a conscious effort everyday to attain them

I set not only personal goals but professional, spiritual and physical ones as well. I would encourage all of you to sit down and do this as soon as possible! Better yet get everyone at dealership together and discuss goals for the new year. Come up with your dealerships goals together and make them well known. It’s a lot easier to accomplish goals when everyone is working towards them together. I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season! Here’s to a happy, healthy and successful 2011!

Did you know that 45% of American adults make one or more resolutions each year. Among the top New Year’s resolutions include resolutions about weight loss, exercise, and stop smoking. Now I am sure all of you have made a New Year’s resolution at least once in your life and if you have ever kept yours, you’re one of the few. A simple Google search and you find statistics galore about this event:
The following shows how many of these resolutions are maintained as time goes on:
– past the first week: 75%
– past 2 weeks: 71%
– after one month: 64%
– after 6 months: 46%
I know, I know New Year’s resolutions are stupid, right? Well I used to think the same thing until I realized that all a New Year’s resolution is, is the opportunity for each of us to establish a short term goal for the upcoming year and to put that goal on PAPER! We all know the importance of setting goals and if you don’t have a goal you surly will never achieve it.
Don’t under estimate the power of a New Year resolution either. Did you know that this tradition dates back to the early Roman Empire and in fact the legend starts in 153 BCE where Janus, a mythical king of early Rome was placed at the head of the Roman calendar by the Roman Senate? In legend Janus had two faces which he used to look at the future and the past. Since it was believed that Janus could forgive transgressions, many Romans would give gifts and make promises at the beginning of the new calendar year. Their belief was that Janus would see this and then bless their life for the entire year.

Well I can promise you I am no Janus and I can’t see into the future but if the past can tell us or give us indications of the future then I am all ears, aren’t you? This past year has certainly done a lot of predicting the future when it comes to Internet marketing and when you track that data you have a pretty clear picture on the future.

So as I gaze into my crystal ball I can see each and every one of your futures in Internet marketing! And just like the statistics above not all of you are going to believe or use my ability to tell the future to your benefit but for those of you who will use the following information to your benefit be prepared for a GREAT 2011 and beyond.

The crystal ball says: Show More, Tell More, Sell More!

No worries, I know exactly what that means so let me explain:

Show More – Take more pictures of ALL your vehicles this includes New Vehicles.
* People are always debating how many photos to take. Is it 20 or 40 pictures? What is the right number? I believe each vehicle will tell you how many pictures you need to take. If picturing a base model car 25 photos may tell the entire story and give a great walk around presentation for a prospect where a full loaded super SUV my need 50 or more to show all the details, options and/or value adds.

Tell More – Custom titles and descriptions have not only been proven to generate more leads and high consumer confidence but the SEO benefits when done properly are invaluable to your lead generation and marketing efforts. Stop using description builders and take 2 minutes per vehicle and tell the personal story of each car in your own words and watch what happens!

Sell More – Who doesn’t want to sell more cars? Liquid Motors recent studies have shown that if you take more high quality pictures and add custom titles and descriptions to each vehicle you will see AMAZING increases in your Internet sales volume!

Now you’re ready to create your own personal and dealership New Year’s Resolutions. Be sure to incorporate these key factors into your written down resolution and get ready to enjoy the best year ever!

Happy New Year from Liquid Motors!

Every year around this time to say to myself,” Where did the year go”? I always say it, it never fails. As 2010 comes to a close I think back thru the year and reflect on my accomplishments and failures for the year. I have to say that personally 2010 has been the most challenging year for me to date. While it has been the most challenging it has also been the most rewarding. It was a big year for me as I accomplished one of my long time goals of becoming a Mom. Having a child puts everything in perspective. It is no longer just about me and my husband and what we want it is all about him and his needs and what’s best for him. I also started a new job this year and to be honest I was a little nervous about juggling motherhood and a new full time job. Luckily, I have been able to manage it all while having the best of both worlds. I get to work for a great company with great people and I get to go home to a loving husband and son. Who can beat that? While 2010 was the best year of my life I still have a list of goals left to accomplish. 2010 was amazing but I can’t wait to see what 2011 has in store! Wishing you and your family a Happy Holidays!

Groupon is a relatively young company that has already sparked a great deal of attention even prior to Google’s 5+ Billion dollar offer to acquire the 2 year old company. Groupon’s potential lies in its ability to broadcast deals to thousands of subscribers in a particular market with your offer. The results are 100% measurable too! Because a set number of people must purchase the offer in order for it to become valid you are guaranteed a pre-determined level of success. The beautiful thing is that not only do subscribers to Groupon’s offers get them through subscribing, they also are able to broadcast these offers across all of the social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and even via email to people they know.

Let’s say that you are willing to sell an Oil Change for $19.95 providing 100 people purchase the offer (Groupon will be able to help you with successful thresholds that work) once the tipping point is reached everyone’s credit card is charged for the purchase amount of the offer and they are emailed the coupon. Groupon then takes their cut and mails you the difference, the customer shows up to your service department with the offer in hand and you now have a new customer and potential new buyer for a new/used car on your lot.

Visit www.grouponworks.com to get more information about how their program works or give us a call at (877) 573-6877 to talk about how new sites like this coupled with Liquid Motors new Social Fuel Marketing can work wonders for your dealership.

Have a safe and wonderful Holiday Season!

You have most likely heard of or read an article recently about Google Places. Many industry experts are recommending you secure your business listing on Google Places and make sure you do what you can to enhance your listing. This is solid advice and if you have not already followed it, read on to learn more about why you should.

Google Places is an offering by Google which allows a business to populate a free page with photos, hours, services and other information which can then be found by prospective customers. This page benefits the business owner by allowing them to present the information they want known about themselves and it benefits Google by allowing them to present more complete and accurate information to searchers.

Google uses information gathered from various sources to populate as many businesses and as much information as possible. However, since this information comes from third-party sites, it may be inaccurate. By allowing the actual business owner to submit their information about the business, Google can present that info with confidence.

Again, this page is provided for FREE. All you need to do is have a Google Account, also free, and then verify your business listing via phone or mail. Once you have completed this step, you will be able to access your page and personalize the information found there. In addition to photos, you can upload video, specify the various services provided, and post a description of your business. All of this is great information for a prospective customer to have easily at hand.

Oh, and there is the little matter of search ranking. Google states “All Google search results are based primarily on relevance, and Google Maps listings are no different. Google Maps ranks business listings based on their relevance to the search terms entered, along with geographic distance (where indicated) and other factors.” Google Places puts the power in your hands to make sure your business listing contains that ‘Relevance to search terms entered‘.

Properly populating your Google Places page can have a major impact on your search ranking. It is a Google product so there is no doubt Google will be able to make the most out of it for indexing. Think of this just like Search Engine Optimizing your website, except this page is free and hosted by the search engine itself.

So if you haven’t already done so, get your business verified on Google Places. If you already have, make sure your content is up-to-date and all of your services are listed with good descriptions. All it will cost you is a little time and the benefits could be great.

Lately I have been really noticing the photos that dealers are taking. It is across the board and you never know what you are going to get. Some dealers knock it out of the park and then there are those that look like they could care less about photos and it shows…literally! My question is…if you are going to either pay someone to take your photos or take them yourself why would you accept anything less then perfection?? There are lot service companies out there that send multiple people out to a dealership to take pictures and each photographer takes pictures a different way, with the car facing in different directions and in some cases in different sizes! Why? I was looking at one of our dealers photos the other day and over 75% of his inventory was without photos! That is unacceptable! The great thing about the Liquid Motors tool is that you can upload your own photos to the portal…and all at once I might add. So if you have a car sitting on the lot that has been there for days and is still without photos grab your camera and starting snapping away. If pictures aren’t being taken take matters into your hands and do it yourself and do it right! If you don’t know how call your account manager and they will be more then happy to help!

Facebook is all the rage these days. To some people FB is old news, college kids have been on FB for years, but to others, in particular businesses, it is the new “must have”. We recently rolled out our Facebook feature and I have received numerous calls from customers wanting to know all about it. While I am happy to share and get them all excited about it I always tell them the one thing to keep in mind before jumping on the bandwagon, so to speak, is to decide who at the dealership is going to manage the page. After all there is no sense in adding all the bells and whistles to your page if no one is going to promote it, update it daily and actually encourage people to “like” your page. That is how business pages work. People have to “like” your page. So now you are thinking to yourself how can I get people to “like” my page? Easy, at the point of sale, at the delivery of the vehicle, on the service drive, in the parts department. Basically anywhere and everywhere! Tell them that by “liking” your page they will receive special sale information, coupon offers, recall information etc that they can’t get anywhere else. So if you are going to have a FB page go all out and do it right! Don’t just create a page and post one status update and hope that people will see it…keep it fresh and exciting!
